Start by taking the stamp plates out of the embosser.

Hold the plates with the round ball facing upwards. Press them together and insert.

Press the plates together and place them into the main head of the embosser, until you hear a click. On the underside of the plate, there are two small holes, and on the head of the embosser, there are two small pins (or “horns”) that should fit into these holes.
